Albert Daniel Smith died Friday, June 4, 2010 of cancer. He was born on November 7, 1936 in Ogden, Utah.
After attending Ogden City schools, he joined the United States Air Force in 1954. Bert served our country for 20 years as an aircraft maintainer, working on fighter jets and bombers in the defense of our nation. Upon retiring from service, Bert became a heating and air conditioning repairman and eventually worked at Refrigeration Supply Distributors in Ogden, UT assisting with wholesale parts orders. His hobbies included photography, woodworking, camping and fishing.
Bert was well liked by nearly everyone he met and people appreciated his sense of humor. He loved his immediate and extended family and showed his love often, never failing to do all that he could to help with any need they had. Not without fault, Bert exemplified character and sacrifice as a father. Enough cannot be said about the loving man he was.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Francis Smith; his three sons, Britt (Robin) Reynolds, Brett Smith, & Benjamin James (Tiffany) Smith, and six (soon to be seven) grandsons. He is also survived by his mother, Marjorie Tobias; as well as his one brother, Brian (Linda) Tobias; and four sisters, Colleen (Ron) Leavitt, Janice (Gary) Rohmer, Glenda Krueger & Debra (Mike) Crowley.
Bert is preceded in death by his first son, Glenn Wayne Smith, and his father, Joy Bowden Smith
A memorial service in Bert's honor will be held at Mountain View Baptist Church (2585 East 3000 North, Layton, UT 84041) Friday morning, June 11, 2010, beginning at 10 am. All are welcome.
