Alfred Velarde

tobe with our Lord August 27, 2012 surrounded by his family at his home in Ogden. He was born September 14, 1935 to Herman and Rosita Gutierrez Velarde in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He is survived by his wife, Olive, of 26 years; daughters, Sophie (Frank) Cata and Yolanda (Eloy) Velarde; sisters, Teresa (Tony) Gutierrez and Carol (Frank) Brewer; 8 grandchildren: Edward Velarde, Tricia Velarde, Stacy Cata, Morgan Cata, Brandi Cata, James Moquino,Jr., Camille Moquino, Cristopher "Keith" Chavez. 8 great-grandchildren: Leticia Gallegos, Nevaeh Cata, Francine Gallegos,Pamela Gallegos, Isaiah Quihuis, Mario Thomas, Jr., Jonathan Vigil, Christian Velarde and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by parents; son, Ronald Velarde; sister, Victoria Guiterrez; and four half sisters and two grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at McKay Dee Hospital, Dr. Hassrick and Dr. Hansen for the care of our loved one. Also, would like to thank the nurses and staff of the Rocky Mountain Hospice Group.

Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, August 30, 2012, at 10 am at St Joseph's Catholic Church, 514 24th St, Ogden, Utah. A viewing will be held on Wednesday, 29 August 2012, from 6-8 pm with Rosary at 7 pm at Aaron's Mortuary, 496 24th Street, Ogden, Utah.
