ARCENIO RAMON MARTINEZ

OGDEN – Arcy Martinez, 81, passed away Monday, December 5, 2016.  He was born in Park View, New Mexico, eldest son of Louis and Theodora Martinez.  Arcy loved sharing memories with his brothers and sisters beginning in New Mexico, and humor was always present when they were together. Their parents’ love taught their children and held his huge family together.

He was at his happiest spending time reading, debating, and watching his favorite teams play, Green Bay Packers and Notre Dame, with his family.  He was not only an inspiration to his own children but to many grandchildren, nieces and nephews, encouraging them with his love of books, history, art, sports, and their individual creativity.  He took pride in their accomplishments.  He was his sons’ biggest fan watching them play football.

He was an upholsterer for years and owned his own shop, RC’s Upholstery, receiving many awards for his work. He also taught upholstery at Weber State University.  He later opened a store of antiques and books, which were his passions.

His horse Prince and his best friend Buster, his hound dog, gave him great memories.

We will be missing him forever but knowing peace and love will be his for all eternity.

He is survived by his wife, Jill Reese Martinez, and his children: Valerie (Joe) Purnell, Dan (Laura) Martinez, Kelly (Scott) Erwin, Kim (Chris) Greene, Theresa (Sheldon) Tingey, Joe (Ann) Martinez, Louie (Julie) Martinez, Danny (Sandy) Espinoza, Jeffrey (Renee) Espinoza, David Espinoza, Mike Martinez, John (Tiffany) Martinez, Patricia Crockett Steed.

Arcy will be missed by his brothers and sisters: Beatrice (Willie) Gallegos, Mary Vigil, Larkin Martinez, Louie Martinez, Ray (Arlene) Martinez, Stella (John) Medina, Rosie (Jim) Myrick, Michael Martinez, Julian (Shauna) Martinez, Christina (George) Romero, Frank Martinez, Teresa Martinez, Mario (Dee Dee) Martinez, Madalene Duncan.  He was blessed with 22 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his parents Louis and Theodora, sister Ernestina, son Christopher Ramon.

Services will be held on Tuesday, December 13, 2016  at 12:00 pm with Holy Rosary prior to the service at 11:30 am at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 514 24th St, Ogden, Utah.  Interment, Ogden City Cemetery.

Luncheon will be held in the Social Center at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church following the graveside services for family and friends.

We would like to thank Lisa Yates and the staff of Canyon Home Care & Hospice.
