Arthur “Scotty” passed away on January 20  at his home.  He was born September 25, 1935 to Arthur and Rosina Welsh in Wishaw, Scotland.  Scotty married Ann C. Phillips on January 9, 1960 in Scotland.  They were married for 50 years.

Scotty began to play soccer at an early age in his hometown in Scotland.  His soccer career spanned numerous years as a professional player.  Taking a break from soccer is proudly served in the British Army.   After he and Ann immigrated to Utah in 1960, he continued to play soccer in Ogden and Salt Lake City area, even traveling to Europe to play exhibition matches.  He retired from playing the sport in 1974.  His soccer career culminated with his induction into the Utah Soccer Hall of Fame in 2000.

He proudly became an American Citizen in 1967.  He was employed at the Defense Depot Ogden for 28 years, retiring in 1995.    His main job after that was to golf whenever and wherever possible!

Welsh, his grandchildren, Brittany Scroggins, Zachary Stebly, Tristan Welsh, and Mackenzee Stebly, and one great-grandchild; Lilly Jo Scroggins.  Siblings; Betty Jordon, Catherine Wallace, Jack Welsh, Mary Farrer, Matthew Welsh,  Jean Welsh, and Richard Welsh.

He was a member of the Catholic Church.

He is preceded in death by his wife Ann, his parents; and four brothers; Nicholas, William, Frank, and Jim.

Per Scotty’s wishes a celebration of life will be held at a later date when the snow melts and the golf courses are open.
