Betty Duncan

June 19, 1925 — March 4, 2015

Betty Duncan, born June 19, 1925, to Frank J. and Maude Broll, passed peacefully from this life to the next, on March 4, 2015. A beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she will be dearly missed by her loved ones. Betty was born in Saguache, Colorado. Even as a child, she always loved learning and experiencing new things in life. She passed on her love of learning to her children and grandchildren. She taught her family to pursue their dreams and always encouraged us to do our best. She taught us to never be afraid of hard work.
She had a passion for traveling, whether it was going to Kanab or to Russia! She began with family vacations, towing a trailer behind the station wagon, in order to save money. As she grew older she was able to visit many places across the world, bringing stories and  gifts back to her family.
Betty had a great love of doll collecting. She collected dolls from all her travels and used her artistic talents to create dolls of her own. She blessed family and friends with her beautifully sculpted dolls, full of character and fine details. Not only did she sculpt dolls, but she painted and was a master seamstress. She could sew anything from winter coats to tiny doll dresses.
She always stood up for what she believed in. She could be as fierce as a mother lion, if necessary, when looking out for her family.  We always knew she supported us in our triumphs and losses.
Betty is survived by her 4 children; Robert McCleary, Lorna McCleary, Jana Poulsen, and Maridee Haycock, 6 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
We will greatly miss her love and encouragement, her beautiful gifts and her lively personality! Can’t wait to see you again, Mom!
