Betty Jean Kilgore
July 21, 1931 – May 9, 2016
Huntsville – Our beloved mother, sister, and grandmother passed away on Monday, May 9, 2016 surrounded by her family. She was born on July 21, 1931 in Onamia, Minnesota to Edward Anderson and Anna Langely. She married George Edward Kilgore on April 3, 1953.
Betty grew up in Onamia, Minnesota, the 7th of nine children. She grew up in the depression and as a result was a prolific saver. She taught all of her children to save and to be thrifty.
When Betty was 18 she and her sister Van hitched a ride with a friend to California. There she met George at a dance at the Presidio in San Francisco. It was love at first sight and they were married a short time later.
Betty and George raised four children as they traveled around the western United States. She was a loyal mother and wife. Betty moved from job to job with her husband of 50 plus years, for a total of 20+ moves. She loved to laugh. Her children and grandchildren loved listening to her stories of growing up in Minnesota. She loved trips to Wendover, visiting her children around the country, and most of all being with her family.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a brother and two sisters. She is survived by her four children: David (Peret) Kilgore, Dan (Kay) Kilgore, Donna (Larry) Gillis, and Donald (Margie) Kilgore. Also, two sisters and three brothers as well as 17 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held to celebrate her life May 13, 2016 at 2 p.m. in Huntsville, Utah
