Bonnie Lu Gines Berte

Bonnie Lu Gines Berte died on October 3, 2024. 

Bonnie Lu was born in Woodland, Utah, in Summit County on December 16, 1937, to William Foster Gines and Mary Jones Gines. 

She grew up working on her family’s dairy farm and graduated from South Summit High School in 1956. 

Bonnie moved to the Ogden area, where she met and married Eugene Dickson Adams. They had four daughters: Jill (Robert) Hall of East Layton; April (Chris) Handley of Syracuse; Allison (Dave) Bell of Bountiful; and Paige (Tad) Auker of Rapid City, S.D. 

They were later divorced. 

She met and married Robert J. Berte. They were married for more than four decades before his death. 

During her husband’s military and Thiokol career, they lived in Ohio, South Dakota, and Taylor, Utah. 

Bonnie worked in the medical field and, during her younger years, served in several county and state GOP positions, as well as in many service, community, and LDS organizations. 

She is survived by her daughters, ten grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. 

She was preceded in death by two grandsons, Brady Ness and Landon Hall, her husband, parents, three brothers and three sisters. 

A memorial service and interment will take place in South Dakota.
