OGDEN-Bregtje van Beveren Overdiek, our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother finished her stay on earth October 26, 2008. She was born in Zaandam the Netherlands on August 9, 1911. The oldest daughter of Anna Gravenstein and Andre van Beveren, later on eight more children followed.
To Mom's dismay they were all boys, but she learned to love them all dearly.
She married our Dad in 1934. In 1949 our little family of six immigrated to the States. (Utah). Shortly thereafter our family was sealed together in the Salt Lake Temple for time and all eternity.
Having been blessed with a beautiful singing voice, Mom dedicated her talent and time singing at many church functions. In her native Holland she toured with an opera group to several of the Western European countries performing and taking part in several opera's. Her favorite role was in the opera "Fanst" where she was given the leading role, truly singing was her passion.
Along with her many accomplishments Mom helped our Dad with his part in the resistance movement during World War II with Germany. During that five year occupation both worked hard together with their brave comrades, the Lord greatly blessed us as a family during that dangerous time.
Together they also searched out and entered many thousands of names of their ancestors and others in completing the needed temple work for them.
Mom made many friends as a N.A. at the old McKay-Dee Hospital; she truly loved her job in helping others.
We will miss our Mom, we will miss her kind smile, her concern for those she loved, we will find comfort knowing that she's now in her Heavenly Fathers care once again.
Surviving are her four children and stepson.
She was preceded in death by her husband John, four brothers, her great granddaughters; Tiffany Warner, Rebecca Helms and her stepson Robert Overdiek
