Carol June Doak

June 21, 1939 — April 9, 2017

Writing an obituary is not something I have ever done or think about ever doing. I mean how do you put the words together that can properly describe what our mother meant to us?  We are all still in disbelief that she is no longer with us. But our sweet mother Carol June Doak quietly slipped away from us and went home on Sunday, April 9, 2017 at 8:09 pm. She had been in Ogden Regional Hospital following several cardiac episodes. We don’t want to focus much on those details. But more about her life and all the people she touched. Carol leaves behind 4 daughters. Cheryl, Teresa, Linda & Lori. 3 Granddaughters Lindsay, Jennifer & Kenzie. 1 Grandson David. And 1 great grandson Kayden. We all will miss her so much. Mom was always a constant.  I think that’s why her passing doesn’t seem quite real to any of us. Mom has always been there. For us kids, for friends, for people she hardly knew. Her heart was pure and her love for people was evident in her need to serve others. She loved cooking, baking and anything that she could do in the kitchen, which is where all the “Magic” happened. Her hands never tired from serving people.

Mom loved her family. Her children and grandchildren were everything to her. She would go without to ensure that her family had everything they needed. She loved to spend time with us in any way that she could. She wasn’t just the mother or grandmother that you would occasionally see for holiday dinners, she was always there for every birthday, every holiday, every graduation, every school play and so much more. You could always count on a daily Facebook message from her to check in with you to see how you were doing, and to let you know she loved you. She often said that it doesn’t matter how old her kids were, they were still her children, her babies! She was the rock that held us all together. I’m not exactly sure how we will all move on without her. But I think if mom was able to tell us what to do, she would say, “ Love Each Other, Stay Close to Each Other, Be Good To Each Other and keep God in the center of your lives. We know that she is still close by, watching over us, and always will be.

We want to thank the ICU staff at Ogden Regional Hospital who loved our mom and gave her the very best care. Marcia, Ben, Julie and Sarina were her nurses. They wanted mom to get better so bad.  They were so sweet and so comforting.  Thank you to the Davis County Sheriffs paramedics who brought mom back several times after her heart stopped. They were so kind and compassionate. Jackie Ostler, who is the hospital chaplain. Guided and led us as we watched mom transition into God’s presence. She was such a source of compassion and strength for our family. Our church family at Crossroads Christian fellowship, who came and prayed over mom and left notes of encouragement in her room. All the calls and text messages from people who loved mom and offered help. Coworkers and employers who were gracious and understanding when we couldn’t come to work. All the hugs, well wishes and prayers are what kept us lifted up this last week. Mom went to be with the Lord, and there is great comfort in that. Now we have the difficult task of moving on without her. I don’t have the words to describe that kind of pain. We will have a life celebration for her at a time not yet decided. Thank you all for your kindness, love and support. And for loving our mother!

Love you mom forever!
