Carol Lynn Thierman Rainbolt of Layton, Utah, transcended her mortal body on Monday, June 10, 2024. Carol passed peacefully in her sleep from natural causes at the age of 69.
Carol was born on January 31, 1955, in La Jolla, California, to Harold and Dorothy Thierman. She was raised in Santa Maria, California, and attended Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, before dedicating her time and focus to marriage and motherhood.
Carol lived most of her life in Long Beach, California, the San Tan Valley, Arizona, and Layton, Utah. She is survived by her husband, Bill Rainbolt; her sons Adam Rainbolt, Brian Schultz, Jeff Schultz, and Alan Schultz; and her stepdaughter Elizabeth Rainbolt.
Carol was an artist who loved the theater, performing in many plays and productions throughout her life - even writing and directing her own work. She was also passionate about writing poetry, journaling, and writing children's books. Carol was deeply spiritual, devoting much of her energy to studying the Gospel of Jesus Christ and living a compassionate, loving life.
Over decades, hundreds of preschoolers knew Carol as their teacher, "Mrs. Rainbow.” She taught young children the fundamentals of reading, guided them in creating art, and helped them build resilience to life's challenges. Every child she taught was individually precious to her, and she kept in contact with many of them for years after they left her classes.
A memorial of her life will be held on Saturday, June 22, at 10:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located at 2300 University Park Boulevard, Clearfield, Utah, 84015.
