Catherine (Cass) M Gibson

January 31, 1945 ~ April 4, 2015

Our mother, Catherine (Cass) M Gibson, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2015 following a brief illness. She was born on January 31, 1945 in Philadelphia, PA to Vern H Gamble and Eleanor F Griffith. She married Richard B Gibson on August 14, 1964, and they had five children. They were later divorced.  

She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, an infant brother, David Gamble, her favorite aunt and uncle Catherine and Frederick Foell, and two other aunts. She is survived by her children, Gregg (Shana) Gibson, Cathy (Jeff) Stubbs, Todd (Tania) Gibson, Stacey (Paul) Wangsgard, and Rebecca (Quinn) Karlinsey; her sister Helen (Daniel) Keenan, her bothers Daniel (Debbie) Gamble, and James Gamble; 22 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. 

Mom loved and valued her family above all else, and she especially loved it when a new baby was born. Through her example, she taught us all to love each other and be there for each other, no matter what. We always knew we could count on her to be by our side, helping us through our darkest moments, and her children and her sister were honored to be by her side as she passed away.

Mom was a friend to many, and she would do just about anything for her friends. She loved to travel, and she would almost always find a way to go on vacation with her family or friends, even on short notice. She valued hard work and taught this work ethic to her children and grandchildren. She was a great cook, and our family times always involved great food and lots of laughter.

Mom was a bit of a gypsy, and she enjoyed the opportunity of living in several states throughout her life including Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Utah, Florida, Tennessee, and Nevada. She always enjoyed living in a new city and always made lasting friends wherever she went. 

We have had Mom’s wish to be cremated carried out; and to allow time for out of town family members and dear friends to make arrangements to attend, her memorial service date has been delayed until Thursday, May 7, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the Wasatch LDS Ward on 6350 Combe Rd, Ogden, UT.

Interment will be at Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Heart Association at www.donate.heart.org
