Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, Cheryl Jolene Johnson Parkin passed away on October 17, 2023 after a difficult battle with cancer. Although we will miss her immensely, we are comforted to know she is free from the physical suffering of her earthly body.
Jolene was born October 26, 1949 to Lenard and Evelyn West Johnson in Logan, Utah. Jolene had a deep love for her parents and was very proud to be their daughter. Jolene grew up in Smithfield, Utah surrounded by many brothers and sisters and loved each one of them with an open heart. They were some of her best friends all of her life. After graduating from SkyView High School in 1967, Jolene spent several years in California and became very close to her sister Marge who lived there. After returning to Utah she attended Weber State for several years before starting her own family. She married Dan Parkin in 1972 with whom she had 3 sons that were her pride and joy. Her other pride and joy were her grandchildren. She loved them with all her heart and loved spending time with them. She and Dan were later divorced but remained close friends throughout her life up to her passing.
Jolene went through a lot of trial and tribulation, but she never gave up. She had a spirit about her that made you feel at ease. Jolene was very compassionate and showed kindness to everyone and put others first before herself.
Jolene was preceded in death by son Stanley, her parents, brothers Delmar, Kent and Thomas, and sister Yula.
She is survived by sons Eric (Kari), Landon and daughter-in-law Melissa and grandchildren: Tristen (Skyler), Jaden (Shania), Kieryn, Hailey, Kylan, Julian, Eheieh, Isobel, Weylyn, Abigail and great-grandchildren: Karsen, Ashten, Lhiera, Noah, and Allyson, and her brothers: LeRoy, Brent and Gary and sisters: Marge, Sharee and Debbie.
