Christa Ursula Binder Jensen rejoined her beloved husband Bent on April 25, 2019 after a courageous battle with cancer. Christa led an amazing and exciting life that spanned 82 years and three continents, beginning in Berlin, Germany on October 16, 1936. Her parents, Karl and Dora Binder left Germany with Christa and her younger sister Gisela shortly after the Second World War, moving to Orem, Utah, where the family forged a new life. Christa studied nursing at Brigham Young University, which led to her work at the LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City, where she met and married Bent Jensen, a Danish immigrant who was also forging a new life. Together they raised five children and played an integral part in the lives of many more children and adults.
Christa and Bent lived lives of adventure and service to their family, church, and community. Christa supported Bent in his many positions of church leadership and in his professional career and business. They built friendships and legacies beginning in Provo, Utah, then moved on to Puerto Ordaz, Venezuela, followed by many years in Florida, moving from the intracoastal waterway in Pompano Beach to the secluded glades of Sebring, Florida. In their later years, they followed two of their children to the land of southern hospitality in Decatur, Alabama, where Christa lived her final years. An active member of her church, Christa had an immense and deep faith, supported by a firm testimony of Jesus Christ as our Savior, and was a great example of Christlike love and charity to all who knew her.
Christa's husband, children, and grandchildren were her greatest joy. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Bent Jensen, and granddaughter Robin Jensen, as well as her parents and younger sister. She is survived by her children, Karen Wendel (Todd), Richard (Connie), Debbie Jones (Gregg), Christopher (Lara), and Maryanne Kingsford (Adam), as well as 11 adoring grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Christa loved to garden, and her life was linked to a garden’s symbolism: i.e. The Wedding is the Planting, The Marriage is the Season for Growing, and The Family is the Bounty.
