Cindia Catherine Varney

Cindy passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on Friday, December 8^th at McKay-Dee Hospital.

Cindy was born in Ogden UT on July 10^th 1959 to Robert H. and LaVon P. Smith.  She was the youngest of four children and grew up in the Ogden area. Cindy graduated from Bonneville High School and LDS Seminary in 1977.

Cindy was a strong independent woman who while raising three beautiful children Michelle, Sean, and Sharlene worked in the manufacturing field. This is where she met an amazing man, Paul Varney. Together they built a wonderful life of true love and friendship.

Cindy later worked in the medical field as a CNA and was able to put herself through school to become a phlebotomist. She worked at PAML, LabCorp as a phlebotomist supervisor until health issues kept her from doing what she enjoyed.

Her true calling in life was family and the LDS church. Cindy was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her belief and strong testimony in the Lord empowered her to follow a lifelong dream of going through the Salt Lake Temple with her mother, LaVon, to receive her endowment on July 15, 2005.

Cindy was an amazing mother and grandmother who loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. She had a huge heart and loved unconditionally whether you were family or not. Her grandchildren have always held a special place in her heart. There were very few weekends at grandma’s house that didn’t include grandkids. She will be deeply missed by many!

Cindy is survived by her life partner Paul Varney, daughter Michelle (Jay) Severson, son Sean (Dupree) Blechert, two brothers Scott and Wayne Smith, multiple grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Bruce Smith and youngest daughter Sharlene Jackson.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, December 15, 2023 at 2 pm at Aaron’s Mortuary, 1050 South State Street, Clearfield, Utah.  Friends can meet with family Thursday, December 14, 2023  from 6 to 8 pm and Friday prior to the service from 1 to 1:45 pm at the same location.

 Interment – Hooper Cemetery.
