October 30th, 1934- March 14th, 2022
"Husband and wife together again."
Clifford (Lanny) returned home to our heavenly Father and to the arms of his loving wife Bonita (October 20th, 1937-October 15, 2016) peacefully in his home, surrounded by his children.
His family and friends will forever miss his sense of humor, kind soul, inspiration, and loving heart. He led a full life and was ready for his final destination.
Clifford was born in New York City, Queens Borough, to Clifford Axel and Marjorie Geneva Carlson. His family relocated several times, providing for adventures during his upbringing in Chicago, Illinois Burbank, California, and Kansas City, Missouri. He had two siblings, Barbara Powel and Gloria Seto, whom he loved dearly. In addition, Lanny adored his nieces and nephews and their children.
He was active in Boy Scouts, earning him the rank of Eagle Scout in New York at age 17. Then, again in adulthood, he was very active as Scoutmaster with his three sons.
In 1952, Clifford graduated from Westport High School, Kansas City, Missouri. That same year, he joined the Navy during the Korean War. He was stationed at Point Mugu Naval Air Missile test center in San Diego, California.
Clifford married Fredricka Schultz in 1958 in Burbank, CA. Together they had five children. Then later divorced.
In 1978, Clifford met the love of his life, Bonita, at the Community Methodist Church in Washington Terrace in a Sunday school class. They fell in love and married on February 14th, 1980. They lived, laughed, and loved in a way that touched all of our hearts.
Clifford started his main career at Hill Air Force Base in 1966, where he held many positions from Item Manager to Deputy Division Chief. He retired in 1990 after 25 hard-working dedicated years, leaving with many friendships that lasted a lifetime. He and Bonita traveled extensively; some of their favorite destinations were Chickasha, OK, New Orleans, LA, San Francisco, and LA, CA. They had a blast and always had so many fun memories to share.
Clifford was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford Axel and Marjorie Geneva Carlson, his son Craig Carlson, and his two sisters, Barbara Powell and Gloria Seto. He is survived by his children: Ken Carlson (Natalie), Mark Carlson (Tina), Stephanie Carlson- Hanlin, Jennifer Carlson- Yocom, Thomas (Connie) Woolworth, Tim (Stephanie) Woolworth, and Brendan (Kheley) Woolworth; 22 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Clifford was a born-again Christian. He attended Washington Heights Church with his beloved wife Bonita for 30-plus years. They met many dear friends that they considered family. He loved to volunteer his time to help anyone in any way.
Special thank you to Pastor Roy Gruber and his wife Sally and Pastor Jimi Pitts. Their support over the years and special visits at the end of life stages mean more to us than words can explain. They have been such a blessing in all our lives and continue to help our family during this grieving process.
The family wishes to thank Symbii Home Health and Hospice Care, nurses and doctors for our Dad's extreme compassionate end-of-life care. We could not have handled it without you. My Dad loved each one of you.
