Cody Chase Ashment

June 4, 1993 — February 6, 2018

Cody Chase Ashment, 24 (born June 4, 1993), loving son and brother was unexpectedly called home to his Father in Heaven February  6, 2018.  Cody is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Cody was born and raised in Layton Utah, and lived most of his life there.  He graduated from Layton High School.  He lived the last month of his life having fun with his family in Layton.

Cody had so much energy and coordination when he was little.  He would go hiking with family and jump from rock to rock and beat everybody up the mountain.  Cody had a natural athletic ability and showed it in his skate boarding, snowboarding, skim boarding, and wake boarding from an early age.  Cody loved the water the most. He would be in the ocean on vacations with his family playing in the waves and rarely leave the water.  Cody had a great sense of humor and loved to tease and play with his siblings, nieces, and nephews.   Cody developed a love for reading as he got older, and he would often give book recommendations to his siblings.  Cody was always in every birthday cake picture (even when it wasn’t his birthday) because he loved to eat and couldn’t wait for it to be served.  Later in life, his love for food translated to him being an excellent cook.

Cody spent his last days on this earth with his family.  Tragically he passed away after being hit by a car on his way home.

Cody was preceded in death by his older brother, Quincey Ashment; grandparents, Earl and Verla Ashment and Violet Faye Moyes.

He is survived by his parents, Roger and Linda Ashment; brothers, Kyle Ashment, Brady (Raquel) Ashment; sisters: Kasey (Jim) Grubb, Stormy (Troy) Blood, Riki Ashment, Chelsy (Brady) Porter, Tawnie (Bryce) Raymond; grandfather, C. Russell (Norma) Moyes; and many nieces and nephews.  Cody will be missed deeply by all who knew and loved him.

Services for Cody will be held Saturday,  Feb. 17, 2018.  A viewing will be held from 1  to 1:45 p.m. with funeral services following at 2 p.m. at the Layton Legacy Stake Center (752 N 3700 W Layton, UT  84041). Dedication of the grave will follow at the West Point Cemetery (80 N 4000 W, West Point, UT 84015).
