Constance Jensen Nielsen

Constance “Connie” Jensen Nielsen, 95, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 27, 2023. She was born in Ogden, Utah, on February 18, 1928. She was the eldest child of Gordon W. and Lida Bingham Jensen.

Growing up in “Five-Points”, she had many friends and fond memories while attending Lincoln Elementary, and the old Lynne Ward church house and playing with her sister and brother.

After graduating Ogden High School in 1945, Connie married longtime friend, John Michael Nielsen, on September 18, 1946 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, and together had four children. Her family was her greatest joy in life, and her family extended even to those whom she met along the way - her unique way of welcoming all who knew her gave each and every one a sense of belonging, and knowing that she truly cared about them as a person. She never knew a stranger.

As a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, she held a great variety of positions and truly enjoyed serving others. As she progressed in years, one of her favorite ways to serve was to write letters and cards to those in her ward, letting each of them know they were thought of and in her heart. She also enjoyed gardening, camping, baking, sewing, quilting and decorating her yard with many, many Christmas lights each year. Her quilting encompassed quilts for each family member and extended family members, and her baking of the “perfect” pies were legendary throughout the family. (With the help of her grandson, she once baked 32 “Perfect” pies for Thanksgiving dinner.) Every year, for Thanksgiving and Christmas, anyone who had ever had something from her oven eagerly awaited her homemade goodies - especially her sugar cookies and those amazing, “Perfect” pies!

Connie is survived by her brother William Burnell (Linda) Jensen of North Ogden, UT. Children; Julie Ann Brewer, Michael G. Nielsen, Rebecca Nielsen and David J. Nielsen; 15 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren (with one on the way).

She was preceded in death by her ex-husband, John Micheal Nielsen; parents, Gordon and Lida Jensen; sister Eulalia Jensen Nielsen, brother Gordon Ray and granddaughter Stefanie Nielsen.

The family would like to thank the nurses at McKay Dee Hospital and hospice for their care and support.
