Cora Annette Heslington

Our beloved, hard-working, humorous, vibrant, and wonderfully genuine mother, Cora Annette Heslington, age 73, died November 22, 2009 at home after a fifteen year struggle with breast cancer.

Cora was born July 28, 1936 to Cora and Emil Allenbach. She graduated from South High and then attended the U of U before beginning cosmetology school, where she met her husband of fifty years, Howard Heslington. They were married in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on February 13, 1956.

Cora and Howard moved to California where they ran a successful salon before returning to Utah to raise four children and establish "Howard's Hair Fashions" where she practiced for nearly 50 years.

In 1993 Cora graduated from Weber State University in Social Work and Gerontology. She then worked for Salt Lake County Division of Youth Services for 13 years, where she remained employed until her death. She loved the "little shits" there and made many close friends during her employment. All those who knew Cora in life reaped the rewards of her kindness and compassion. She was honest and generous to a fault, and fiercely independent. Her combination of unconditional love and honesty always made those around her feel safe.

Cora is survived by son Paul Heslington, daughters Jill (Sheamus) Yeiter and Holly (Karl) Rogers, son-in-law Greg Nielsen, and five loving grandchildren, Jesse, Megan, Jay, Shaylee, and Anton.

She was preceded in death by her spouse Howard, daughter Heidi Nielsen, and most of her customers. Cora and family would like to thank close friends, extended family, Division of Youth Services, IHC Hospice Services, and friends met during treatment. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 4th at 11:00 AM at Lindquist's Bountiful Mortuary, 727 North 400 East. Cremains will be interred at the Bountiful City Cemetery.
