Danny Allen Dawson

June 3, 1955 — November 15, 2022

Danny Allen Dawson passed away on Tuesday, November 15, 2022 at his home in Ogden.  Danny was born June 3, 1955 in Marion Ohio to Maxine Virginia Rentschler and William Marion Dawson

Danny attended Marion High School  in Ohio.  Danny later worked hard in the oil industry in Farmington, New Mexico.  Danny worked most recently for the Easter Seals Program here in Ogden.

Danny possessed  a charismatic and highly adventurous spirit.  He loved the great outdoors:  camping, mountain climbing, hunting and most of all traveling

Danny was extremely gifted in history, being able to recite which significant American Historical Events had transpired on almost any given day.  He was also patriotic.  He was an animal lover often feeding the poor strays.

Danny also enjoyed Western music, film and TV series Gunsmoke and Matt Dillon for sure.  Danny’s favorite holiday was Thanksgiving.  He was also partial to Christmas shows.

Danny also had a way with words, giving creative authorship in his unique and uncanny humerous commentary on or of any subject matter he chose.

Danny came to the Ogden Valley in the 80s and later made Ogden his home.

Danny met Sherri Rothey in 2008 and they were later married.  Danny was baptized a member of t he Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on August 11, 2012.

Danny enjoyed a special bond and was a loving father to all of his inherited family, particularly his sons.

Danny  was preceded in death by his parents, Maxine and William Dawson.

He is survived by his wife, Sherri (Rothey); step-son, Benjamin Lee Holmes; grandsons, Benny and Mathew, Eric Mordaunt Holmes of Utah;  step-daughter, Shannon (Jared)  Rice  of TX; granddaughters, Jaylynn and Jaynell;  and  son, James Stuart Knight and granddaughter, Kamia Knight of Payson; his sister, Debbie (Chuck) Wortz  of OH & FL;  two nephews and numerous great-nieces and nephews.

Special thanks to Susan and Jerry Ellis, Debbie & Chuck Wortz for their loving support at this difficult time and to Robert and Sister Bone for always being there for the family.

Danny called it like he saw it and never pulled any punches.
