Danny Allen Dawson passed away on Tuesday, November 15, 2022, at his home in Ogden. Danny was
born June 3, 1955, in Marion Ohio to Maxine Virginia Rentschler and William Marion Dawson
Danny attended Marion High School in Ohio. Danny later worked hard in the oil industry in Farmington,
New Mexico. Danny worked most recently for the Easter Seals Program here in Ogden.
Danny possessed a charismatic and highly adventurous spirit. He loved the great outdoors: camping,
mountain climbing, hunting and most of all traveling
Danny was extremely gifted in history, being able to recite which significant American Historical Events
had transpired on almost any given day. He was also patriotic. He was an animal lover often feeding the
poor strays.
Danny also enjoyed Western music, film and TV series Gunsmoke and Matt Dillon for sure. Danny’s
favorite holiday was Thanksgiving. He was also partial to Christmas shows.
Danny also had a way with words, giving creative authorship in his unique and uncanny humerous
commentary on or of any subject matter he chose.
Danny came to the Ogden Valley in the 80s and later made Ogden his home.
Danny met Sherri Rothey in 2008 and they were later married. Danny was baptized a member of t he
Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on August 11, 2012.
Danny enjoyed a special bond and was a loving father to all of his inherited family, particularly his sons.
Danny was preceded in death by his parents, Maxine and William Dawson.
He is survived by his wife, Sherri (Rothey); step-son, Benjamin Lee Holmes; grandsons, Benny and
Mathew, Eric Mordaunt Holmes of Utah; step-daughter, Shannon (Jared) Rice of TX; granddaughters,
Jaylynn and Jaynell; and son, James Stuart Knight and granddaughter, Kamia Knight of Payson; his
sister, Debbie (Chuck) Wortz of OH & FL; two nephews and numerous great-nieces and nephews.
Special thanks to Susan and Jerry Ellis, Debbie & Chuck Wortz for their loving support at this difficult
time and to Robert and Sister Bone for always being there for the family.
Danny called it like he saw it and never pulled any punches.
