Deanna Dawn Setter

March 2, 1943 — January 23, 2018

Deanna Dawn Setter passed away January 23, 2018 in Layton Utah, at the age of 74. She was born March 2,  1943 in Richmond, California to Gloria and Vern Ellis. When Gloria later remarried, Deanna became stepdaughter to Michael Licon.

She graduated high school and soon after married and had a son, and several years later a daughter. Eventually she would find herself a single mom working hard to raise her children. Deanna met Ben while they both worked for a company in Sunnyvale, California. Ben also had children from a previous marriage. They had their first date October 25, 1980, were married June 13, 1981 and were later sealed in the Oakland Temple on December 29, 1983. Deanna loved Ben deeply, often calling him ‘the real Prince Charming’ and her marriage to him a fairytale. Over the years she was blessed with several grandchildren and spent many years loving and adoring them. In 2005, Ben and Deanna moved to Syracuse Utah, where they were welcomed by a wonderful church, great neighbors and good friends. Deanna served in her church as a Visiting teacher, Sunday school teacher, Primary school teacher, and member of the Relief Society and D.U.P. She was loved by so many, including children, who fondly remember her as ‘Sister Setter.’

Deanna found happiness in the smallest of things, except when it came to jewelry. She had a love for jewelry like no other, the bigger and brighter, the more sparkle and shine, would light up her face with joy! She was kind and loving to all who knew her, and despite her many health struggles she remained cheerful, trusting that God would comfort and take care of her. He did!

She leaves behind her beloved husband of 37 years, Ben Setter; her son, David Kazakevich and wife Dara; and grandchildren:  Christopher, Jacob and wife Miranda, Rian Elisabeth and great-granddaughter Adelyn; her daughter, Nicole Kurtz and husband Ben; and grandchildren:  Scott, Zachary, Lucas and Dawson; her daughters, Karyn Harline and Darcy Setter; and son, Lance Setter; and her brothers, Tim Ellis, Tony Licon;, her sister, Maria Coppersmith and many other relatives.

Deanna was preceded in death by her parents, and by her brothers, Steve and Brent Ellis.

Services will be held on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at the LDS Church located at 3426 Augusta Dr, Syracuse, Utah.    A viewing will be held from 9 to 10 am with Funeral Service at 10:30 am.  Interment will be at the Utah Veterans Memorial Park.
