Dee Niece Johnston

It is with great sadness to announce the passing of our wife, sister, mother, grandma and great grandma Dee Niece Johnston. She went peacefully at her home surrounded by family on the evening of February 27, 2014. The sixth of twelve children, she was born on March 8, 1929, in Rock Springs, Wyoming to Andrew and Louella Hawks. Dee Niece married James L. Johnston on July 13, 1946. They split their time between Rock Springs, Wyoming and Ogden, Utah. Dee Niece loved being a homemaker, going shopping and being outside. The most important thing in her life was spending time with her family. She is survived by her husband, brother Carl (Sharon) Hawks, daughter Dee Laine (John) Peterson, daughter in-law KT Johnston, six grandchildren, Chax (Tracey) Peterson, Brandi (Jared) Cunliffe, Hailey (Richard-Corky) Hamblin, Eric (Lauren) Johnston, Karly (Brady) Layton and Wiley Johnston and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son Larry Johnston, grandson Chad Johnston, her parents and several siblings. She had 84 years with us but we will still miss her dearly. She was loved a bushel and a peck. The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to Hospice of Utah, especially Stephanie and Alison. A graveside service will be held Saturday, March 8, 2014, at Lindquist Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Rd in South Ogden at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in her name to a charity of your choice.
