Dellamay Woodward

February 29, 1920 — October 1, 2013

Dellamay Woodward departed this life on October 1, 2013 surrounded by her loving family, to start the journey to her heavenly home. Della was born in Lexington, Nebraska, on February 29, 1920, to Ira Dell and Georgia Vance, and was the second of nine children.

She spent her formative years in Lexington and graduated from Lexington High School. She married Chet Woodward of Jackson, Wyoming, and after the close of WWII they moved to Jackson where she spent the next 53 years enjoying the mountains and raising a family of four children.

Della was an active participant within her community, volunteering for several years as a lay chaplain at St. Johns Hospital. She was also a long time member of the local Homemakers Club where she received national awards for her work.

She was a member of the Jackson Baptist Church where she played the piano for their Sunday services. Della taught elementary school for many years and in later life worked at the Teton County Clerk's office.

Chet and Della moved to Brigham City, Utah, in 1998 and immediately became involved in their new community, making many friends and becoming active members of the Presbyterian Church. This move was initiated in order to be closer to their children who had previously relocated in Utah.

Della loved to write inspirational articles for various national church magazines and was published numerous times.

Della was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Chester F. Woodward; a son, Patrick Dell Woodward, who died in a tragic accident in 1968; great grandson, Andrew D. Woodward; and 5 of her siblings.

She is survived by her children, James (Peggy) of Bountiful, Merel of Salt Lake City, and Carol Rieb (Daniel) of Clinton, 12 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great- grandchildren.

Services will be conducted at the Brigham City Presbyterian Church at 11:OO am Saturday, October 5, 2013. A luncheon will follow the services.
