Dennis Barker passed away on Saturday, June 20, 2015, in his sleep.  He was born on November 28, 1944 in Payson, Utah.  He was the second child of five children (3 brothers and a sister).  Dennis grew up in Layton, Utah and married the love of his life, Kaye Griffin, on December 4, 1965.  Together they raised their 5 children.

Dennis served a Stockholm Sweden mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. After his mission, he worked as a civilian electronic technician for Hill Air Force Base and retired in April of 1993.  He loved to work on cars and spent his retirement years building hot rods and racing them in the 130 MPH class on the Bonneville Salt Flats.  He was a member of the Utah Salt Flats Racing Association and spent many hours volunteering for World of Speed and other related activities.

Dennis was very talented working with his hands and could fix anything.  He built custom rifles as a side business and for friends.  He also made beautiful custom wood items including his own banjos.  

Dennis loved his family and would do anything for them.  He was a loving father, brother, son, grandfather and great-grandfather.  

He is survived by his sons, Tod Barker (Jamie), Chad Barker, Cory Barker (Susan), and Jeremy Barker, daughter, Brenda Hampton (John), brothers, Gary Barker, Jody Barker (Carla) and sister Diane McCurdy (Tom).  He has 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Karroll (Kaye) Barker, his parents, John Leo Barker and Grace Elaine Barker and his brother Rickey L. Barker.

Graveside services will be held at the Syracuse Cemetery, 1250 S 1000 W, June 24, 2015 at 10:00 A.M.  

Friends and family may call Tuesday, June 23, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Aaron’s Clearfield Mortuary (1050 South State Street)
