Richard Felix Brown (Dick), of Mendon, Utah, passed away on March 2, 2025, in Bountiful, Utah, at the age of 89.
Dick was born in Riverside, California on January 19, 1936. He was raised by his parents, William Marsh Graham Brown and Eileen Marie Thompson in the Providence, Rhode Island area. He attended the University of Rhode Island, where he graduated from the College of Engineering. Dick pursued a career as a chemical engineer in the aerospace industry and later owned his own business, DKB, which supplied ammunition to local police departments.
On June 1, 1962, Dick married Kathleen Marie Mendenhall in Salt Lake City, Utah. Together, they had two children, Joann (Rhett) Hosman and Richard (Janet) Brown. Kathleen passed away on July 13, 1973.
On May 18, 1985, Dick married Shirley Gene Cameron, expanding his family with five stepchildren: Robert “Scott” Cameron, Jeff Cameron, Joyce (Michael) Metz, Joni (Greg) Bassett, and Chris (Merilee) Cameron.
Dick was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He had a deep love of his Savior, Jesus Christ, and showed love to all around him.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents, William Brown and Eileen Thompson; his siblings, Mary May Carter Laporte, Carl Gene Brown, and Wylie Timothy Carter; his first wife, Kathleen Mendenhall Brown; his second wife, Shirley Cameron Brown; and his stepdaughter, Joni Bassett.
He is survived by his children, Joann (Rhett) Hosman and Richard (Janet) Brown; his stepchildren, Scott Cameron, Jeff Cameron, Joyce (Michael) Metz, Greg Bassett, and Chris (Merilee) Cameron; as well as his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Dick will be remembered for his dedication to his family and his contributions to both the aerospace industry and his local community.
Private graveside service will be held at the Mendon Cemetery, Mendon Utah
