Don Lee (Otis) Wheelwright II

Lee was born April 11, 1961, to Don Lee and Ruth Carrol Wheelwright in Ogden, Utah. He passed this world on June 14, 2018, after a long battle with health issues.

He was affectionately known to most as “Otis,” a nickname given to him at a young age by his older brother.

Though he experienced much tragedy and many hurdles in his life, Otis still managed to smile and keep on going.  He worked primarily in the construction trades. He had worked and lived in Wyoming, Tennessee, Nevada and Utah. He enjoyed the outdoors and especially fishing with his son, Andrew. He also loved to cook and was referred to as “Chef O.” More than anything he loved being a dad. After a personal experience while very ill in Tennessee, he found peace with himself and subsequently never failed to tell those around him that he loved them.

He married Amanda Bennett and was father to Nick, Sam and Andrew. He was also seen as dad by Angel, Terri and Crystal. Others that survive him are his mother, Ruth Carrol Wheelwright; siblings James (Jamie) Wheelwright, Connie (Brad) Carson and Scott Wheelwright; brothers-in-law Daniel Brakefield and Paul Watkins; along with many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Don Lee Wheelwright; sisters Sharrol Brakefield and Lisa Watkins; as well as his grandparents. 

Respecting his wishes, there will be no services. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
