Our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Donald William Enger, 77, of Layton, Utah, passed away March 25, 2015, in Ogden, Utah.
Don was born February 16, 1938, in Sparta, Wisconsin, to Donald Sven Enger and Zona Gale Goff Enger. At the age of 6, Don lost his mother to tuberculosis and was raised by his maternal Grandparents, William and Adelaide Goff. Don had an adventurous childhood, playing in the creek like Huckleberry Finn. He attended Sparta High school, where he played center on the football team. After high school, Don eagerly enlisted in the United States Air Force where he proudly served. He was honorably discharged in 1961.
With a firm testimony of his savior, Jesus Christ, Don was baptized as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on April 1, 1964. His faith and testimony were very important to him.
On April 18, 1964, he married his sweetheart, Judith Anne Cox, in Salt Lake City, Utah. They were later sealed in the Oakland, California LDS Temple in 1971.
In 1964, Don and Judy moved to Santa Rosa, California where they were blessed with five children; Scott, Mark, Daniel, Jason and Keri. Don managed a Dahnken store in Santa Rosa, and in 1976, he opened his own Dahnken franchise in Petaluma, California. In 1993, Don, Judy, Jason and Keri moved to Layton, Utah where Don worked for SkyWest Airlines until he retired in 2014.
Donâs first love and devotion was his family. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. In his spare time, he enjoyed music, singing, jet aircraft, fishing, camping, and riding dirt bikes. Don found contentment in the outdoors, and loved the beauty of nature. Known for his sense of humor, Don never met a person he didnât consider his friend. He welcomed everyone to call him âGrandpa.â Don was generous, loving, and had a heart of gold. His legacy will live on forever.
Donald is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Judy Enger of Layton, UT;
Son: Scott (Tammy) Enger of Windsor, CA;
