Donald Edward Schomburg, age 81 passed away on Monday, December 29, 2014, surrounded by his family, from complications of Parkinsonâs Disease.
He was born in Sciotoville, Ohio to Leonard Maurice Schomburg and Margaret May Riddlebarger Schomburg. He attended the local Sciotoville Schools and joined the Air Force at the age of 17 where he served with honor until 1958.
Following a station assignment at Hill Air Force Base, he returned to HAFB to work in the Civil Service for 19 years. He married Edna Mae Wolfe in 1955, they raised three children. After their divorce he moved to California and worked for the Navy at Point Mugu until his retirement in 1988. He married Lillian Sara Edwards in 1981, they were later divorced.
Don loved electronics and computers. He built a âflat screen TVâ by building a color TV into the wall of the family home in the 1970âs. He also loved traveling the country in his motor home. He returned to Utah in 2002 and remained with his daughters until his death.
He is survived by his brother, Thomas; four sisters, Edna Mae, Ruth, Wanda and Theda; two daughters, Debbi (Rick) Kearl and Teresa (Rick) Youngberg; six grandchildren, Thomas, David, Jamie, Daniel, Danielle and Regyn plus four step-grandchildren, Jacob, Abe, Sam and Ivy; and 14 step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; both sets of grandparents; one brother, Maurice and his son, Gregory Donald Schomburg.
At his request, he was cremated without services. His ashes will be sprinkled into the ocean near one of his favorite beaches.
