Dora V Solis

May 1, 1937 — November 17, 2023

Dora Vega Solis, 86, of Layton, Utah, passed away peacefully on November 17, 2023, surrounded by her children and loved ones, at IHC Layton hospital, at 4:20pm. She was born on May 1, 1937, to Jesus and Celicia Vega in Cameron, Texas.

She married Jesus Solis, and they had eight children. They moved to Layton, Utah, and were later divorced. Jesus passed away in 2020.

Dora was very loving and caring, with a bit of sass. She helped anyone she could, whether it be opening her home up to them, or helping raise her many grandchildren. She loved animals very much, her most recent pets being dogs named Snowflake and Lady (Lady was with her up until the very end).

Dora loved plants and flowers. She took pride in her yard, which was filled with beautiful flowers, and was always well kept.

Dora was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer 5 months prior to her passing, which came as a shock to her and her family, but she didn’t let it stop her, she just kept going through the pain. She fought until the end.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her eldest son Raul V. Solis, and her grandchildren Tina Trujillo and Jonathan Trujillo.

She is survived by her children Tony Solis (Evangelina), Anita Trujillo, Mary Berkheiser, Rosemary Solis, Connie Black, Alicia Rakes (Mark), and Carmen Solis (Randy Martinez).

She has also survived by many grandchildren, T.J. Solis, Melissa Trujillo, Jake Trujillo (who helped care for her leading up to her death), Stephanie Johnson,  Christina Cottrell, Nicole Ricards, Brendan Black, Candace Black, Eric Rakes, Nicholas Rakes, Damian Solis, Elizabeth Solis, Brandon Martinez and Delilah Martinez and many more.

Dora helped raise many of her grandchildren and great grandchildren, such as Nicole Ricards, Eric Rakes, Damian Solis and Draven Ricards, Brykein Weese and her youngest great-great grand kid Nollie.

She was taken from us way too soon, and she took a piece of our hearts with her. She will be deeply missed. Dora’s wishes were to only have a grave side service.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, December 2, 2023 at 10am at Aaron’s Mortuary  located at 1050 State St, Clearfield Utah. If you would like to send flowers you can send them through Aaron’s Mortuary & Crematory’s website. Everybody who wishes to attend is welcome to come join our family as we say our final goodbyes.
