Douglas Mitton

Douglas Mitton 88, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away Tuesday, December 22, 2009 with his family by his side. He was born August 10, 1921 in Lewiston, UT. to John H. and Ruth Rallison Mitton the youngest of five children.

He attended schools in Whitney, ID. Preston, ID., and Logan, UT. Douglas married Blanche Bingham on August 14, 1941 in the Logan Temple. Together they had four children; Connie (Tom) Johnson, St. Charles, ID., Douglas Clair (Jill) Mitton, Craig P. (Liz) Mitton both of Pleasant View, UT. and Cathy (Kevin) Miller, Farr West, UT.

Douglas worked for Standard Optical, Brown Monument and Metropolitan Life Insurance, retiring in 1979. He and his family moved to Pleasant View in 1962. He served many callings in the LDS Church including a member of the Bishopric, High Priest Group leader and Temple worker with his wife.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping with his friends and family especially hunting with his sons.

Douglas is survived by his wife of sixty-eight years, his four children, fourteen grandchildren, twenty-nine great-grandchildren and two sisters; Alice Nuffer, Preston, ID., and Helen Nelson Bountiful, UT.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, two brother-in-laws and two grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the staff of Vistacare Hospice for their exceptional care and support.

Funeral services will be held Monday, December 28, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the North Ogden Lindquist Mortuary, 2140 N. Washington Blvd. Ogden, Utah. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the services.

Interment will be in Ben Lomond Cemetery.
