Duane (Dewey) Savage

October 27, 1967 — June 18, 2014

Dewey Savage was born October 27, 1967 in Grand Forks North Dakota. Dewey died while hiking in Wheatgrass Canyon due to complications of diabetes and hypothermia at approximately 2:30pm on June 18, 2014. The world lost a beautiful soul. He passed from this world in a beautiful place while in the arms of his wife, something he had expressed many times as the way he "wanted to go."

Dewey was the kindest soul most of us will ever be blessed with knowing. He had a sweet gentle nature and he would do anything for anyone. He would take the neighbor's garbage to the curb, fix cars for complete strangers, even purchasing the parts if they couldn't afford the cost in the moment. He had an ear and a shoulder for anyone who needed him and a smile that could bring even the saddest or grumpiest person to a grin. Dewey's entire existence was dedicated to making others happy, even to the point sometimes of neglecting himself. His selfless love for others was inspired by his relationship with Jesus. He lived every day to become more Christ like.

Dewey was always able to forgive and forget and move forward even if his feelings were hurt. The lessons of his kind, gentle and forgiving way of living have taught us all to appreciate and try to be more like the person he was. We only have these precious moments in time; love deeply and hold your loved ones close for you never know what tomorrow will bring.

Three days defined his ultimate happiness. February 5, 1988, the day he married his high School sweetheart Shannon Germer Taylor; June 29, 1994, the day his beloved daughter Kaley VanCleave was born; and September 29, 2007, the day he married the love of his life Michelle.

Dewey attended Ben Lomond High School and Weber State College. He worked for Boyd's Auto Parts for 16 years and had been employed at Napa as an assistant Manager for the last 5 years.

Dewey was preceded in death by his father Robert Savage.

He is survived by his Mother, Ruth Savage; Brothers, Dale (Vicki) Savage and Dave (Tina) Savage; Sisters, Terry Steiger and Joni Savage; His daughter, Kaley (Kris) Van Cleave; Grandchildren, Damien and Sabrina; Step-children, Christopher (Adam) Smith Brandi Smith and Grandson, Dane. He is also survived by his wife and best friend, Michelle Savage, who will love him forever.

In the last several days literally hundreds of people have passed through his home to express their sadness and their support. Countless people have expressed their sorrow at the loss of this beautiful human being. He was a past President of Creative Elegance Car Club and a member of the Trouble Bound Crew TBC and also a regular visitor to Brewski's. Many knew Dewey and he was loved by everyone who ever met him. He had so many loyal and amazing friends and his huge heart had earned him each and every one of them. The family would like to express their eternal gratitude for all the love and support the community has offered in his memory.

A celebration of life will be held honoring Dewey, on Saturday, June 28, 2014 from 5 pm to close at Brewskis.

The family- only celebration will also be held Saturday, from 2-4 pm at the City Club downstairs.
