Ed East, age 77, of Ogden, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2009.. He was born on April 1, 1931, and was raised on an 80-acre farm in West Warren during the Great Depression. Ed was the first born of two children to Myron and Susan East.
He graduated from Weber High School. Ed served in the United States Army as a Corporal, and received three medals of Honor. He enjoyed crafting and making beautiful handmade mountain man leathers and beadwork items. Ed loved to collect Indian artifacts, many of which are still on display at Weber State University.
Ed found his greatest happiness in spending time with friends and family as well as enjoying in a good game of golf. He will be greatly missed.
Edwin is survived by his sister Norma Derrick of Ogden; six children, Laurie (Ivan) Taylor; Eden, Kerrie Petsche; Ogden, Jennifer East; Plain City, Mark Crosthwait; Pleasant View, Kevin Crosthwait; Layton, and Heather Crosthwait; Roy, Utah. He first married to Carole C. Johnston (now, Bell). Ed later married Cheryl L. (Fletcher) Crosthwait (now, East de-Amici), and though divorced, have remained close friends. Ed is also survived by sixteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, February 6th, at 11:00 A.M., at Lindquist North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 N. Washington Blvd. North Ogden, UT.
Inurnment will be West Warren Cemetery.
Cremation under the direction of Aaron's Mortuary & Crematory 1600 Washington Blvd.
