Ogden - Effie Imes Snider, 88, peacefully passed away on June 20, 2014. Effie was born July 21, 1925 in West Ogden, Utah; to Milton and Hazel (Jones) Imes. She was educated in Ogden and graduated from Ogden High school. In 1946 Effie graduated from the Thomas Dee Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She later received a bachelor's degree in nursing from the University of Utah. She worked as a registered nurse for over 35 years. In 1966 she graduated from Weber State College with a degree in elementary education and worked at Riverdale Elementary, retiring in 1987. Effie was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and loved genealogy. She wrote many family histories; leaving a priceless legacy for her family. She was an active member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, Far South Company, Prickley Pear Camp, where she held many positions. She was also a founding member of Delta Kappa Gamma sorority. She loved to travel, paint and spend time with her family. Effie is survived by her two children, Jana Lee (Jack) Sheehan, and Kent (Laurie) Snider, seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings: Ramona Millican, Bernice Luby, and Marlin Imes. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at the Valley View Stake Center, 1589 E. Gentile, Layton, Utah. Friends may call before services from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at Hooper Cemetery.
