Elizabeth (Bep) Susanna Mensink, age 83, passed away peacefully July 24, 2014 at home surrounded by her family. She was born in Utrecht, The Netherlands on August 26, 1930. She married the love of her life Rudolf (Dolf) Mensink 60 years ago this July 30th.
She is survived by her loving husband (Dolf), four children, Rita Winmill (Ron), Pieter Mensink (Janice), Maud Christine Tanner and Jeanette Church. She is also survived by her eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Bep loved her family very much, and enjoyed taking long summer vacations on the sunny beaches in the south of Europe. She had a great love for animals and her house was always filled with dogs, cats and birds. Bep and Dolf raised their family in a small town just outside of Rotterdam and moved to Salt Lake City, Utah in 1979, where they were active in the LDS Church and the Salt Lake City community. Fondly known as "Oma" in her family, wards and neighborhoods, a visit to Oma's house always included lots of love, laughter, and a generous supply of chocolate.
She loved taking care of the elderly, and had a long career as a CNA. She worked in the healthcare field for many years in Holland, and at Life Care in Bountiful for over 25 years taking care of patients often times younger than herself. She loved her work very much, and finally retired when she was 79.
To celebrate her life and wedding anniversary, services will be held Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at 11:00 a.m at the Quail Crossing Chapel, 2230 South 350 East Kaysville, UT. Viewing will be held on Tuesday evening, July 28, 2014 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and again one hour prior to the services at the church. Burial services will be held immediately following at the Salt Lake Mausoleum, 1001 11th Ave, Salt Lake City, UT.
