Ellen Adele Clayton Turner passed away at the age of 92 after a valiant battle with 'old age.' Adele was the great-great-great-granddaughter of William Clayton (composer of "Come, Come Ye Saints") and Ruth Moon. Adele's family are pretty sure she was singing and dancing to the music during her final days on earth. Adele was the third child born to Brigham Moroni Clayton and Alice Peterson Clayton. She was a premature infant who wasn't expected to live. Adele often laughed telling the family story about how tiny she was at birth, so tiny that she slept in a shoe box and was carried on a pillow. She found humor in the fact that she lived o be 92, longer than any of her doctors. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, the family moved to Ogden, Utah in 1929 which included her parents and siblings Emmett, Dean, Carolyn (Gravis) and Joan McGregor. Most of the family believed they had been relocated to Mars. Adele graduated from Ogden High in 1940 and completed an associate degree from Weber State College/University. She worked for the federal government for over 30 years including Army and Naval depots retiring from the IRS in 1993. Adele married and divorced during the war and was blessed with her only child, John Francis Turner, Ogden, Utah. Adele and John were able to travel extensively and enjoyed their many trips to St George, California and onto Europe and beyond. John provided love and care during Adele's life and together they enjoyed many special moments as well as the beautiful sights of Mt Ben Lomond from their front window. Adele was a great dog lover providing a home for many orphaned dogs as well as loving music, dance, wine, and good book and of course looking at handsome men. Adele is preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Emmett and Dean and sister Carolyn (Chris) Gravis. Adele leaves behind John and her sister Joan McGregor, sisters-in-law Bonnie Clayton (Emmet) and Jolene (Dean) Clayton and many loving nieces and nephews. At Adele's request there will be no funeral services. Following cremation, Adele's remains will be scattered over her beloved Mt. Ogden. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date for family and friends. In lieu of flowers please assist with medical costs or donate to your favorite charity.
