Emeretta Nielsen Westergard

October 8, 1919 — March 7, 2013

Emeretta Neilsen Westergard, 93, passed away Thursday, March 07, 2013. She was born in Midview, Utah, October 8, 1919, the 5th of nine children to Orson C. and Kate Musig Nielsen. She was raised in the Uinta Basin and Los Angeles, CA. She attended Hollywood High, and graduated from Roosevelt High School. She attended Utah State University.

Emeretta married Frank C. Westergard on September 12, 1947, in the Salt Lake Temple. They had 5 children. They loved to travel, camp, fish, and garden.

Emeretta was active in church and civic affairs. She served as president of Ramjet Credit Union, served on the Farr West Planning Commission, taught Primary for 50 years, and helped organize Cub Scouting in Farr West. She worked with young scouts for 35 years, and received BSA's Silver Beaver Award. She was a member of the Farr West Dinner club. Emeretta also served an LDS mission to Peoria, Ill, which included serving in historic Nauvoo.

Emeretta was preceded in death by her husband, Frank, and her son, Len.

She is survived by her children Lurlene, Gerlynn (Vurlia), Delwyn (Pauline), Max (Marcell), daughter-in-law Diane, sister Eloise Turner, 16 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.

The family especially thanks Lurlene for taking such devoted care of Mom.

Funeral services will be held Monday, March 11, 2013 at 12:00 pm, at the Farr West LDS Stake Center, 2132 W. 2700 N. Friends may call at the church Sunday, March 10, from 6:00-8:00 pm, or Monday, March 11, from 10:30-11:45. Interment in Lindquist's Washington Heights Memorial Park, Ogden.
