Emery Thirkill Mitton Jr., 80, passed away Tuesday, June 28, 2016 in South Ogden, Utah. He was born November 13, 1935 to Emery Thirkill Sr. and Theresa Louisa Black in Logan, Utah.
Emery graduated from the first Ben Lomond High School graduating class in 1954. On May 26, 1956 he married June Miller in Reno, NV. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple.
He worked at Hill Air Force Base, where he repaired radios on B-25s and other aircraft. He later moved to the radio shop at Travis Air Force Base, in Fairfield Ca. He owned his own TV repair business for several years. After retirement, the family moved back to Utah.
Emery's hobbies included collecting coins, playing the piano and organ, photography, and was an avid Ham Operator.
He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served faithfully in many callings in the church including serving as an ordinance worker in the Ogden LDS Temple.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 sisters, and 3 brothers.
He is survived by his wife, his children: Diane Castille, Brent (Brenda) Mitton, Sharon (Mike) Talbot, Debra Lynn, and 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his twin brother, Parley (Gay) Mitton.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, July 1, 2016 at 10 a.m. at Lindquist's Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 S. Washington Blvd, Ogden, UT.
