Pastor Ernest G Silvas

May 18, 1942 — November 26, 2024

Our beloved father was born to Nazaria and Theodore Silvas on May 18, 1942, in Wharton, Texas.

Our beloved father proudly joined the United States Army where he served until he was honorably discharged in August of 1960.

He married his wife of 58 years, Maxine Corral, on November 20, 1965. In June 1967, he was saved and had the calling to be a minister. He knew God wanted to use him, so he began to prepare himself to Preach the word of God not only in Texas but Utah, Idaho, and Wendover. Our father loved fishing, BBQ-ing, and spending time with loved ones but most of all loved spreading the word of God.

Our father was loved by many and known as “Grandpa” to many, everywhere he went he was recognized for his sweet loving 1 of a kind personality or his “US Army” hat that got him many “Thank You for Your Service, Sir” which made him so proud. Our father helped raise 2 of his grandchildren, Alicia Hernandez and Christian Silvas.

He is survived by his wife, Maxine; children: Luana Silvas, Debra Delgado (Jose), Melody Silvas Hernandez (Juan - Deceased), Melissa Silvas Labra (Roberto); 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; many many nieces & nephews; 4 brothers and 2 sisters.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Ernest Silvas Jr; son in law, Juan Hernandez; brother, Martin Silvas; sister, Gloria Yanez; 1 granddaughter; and 1 great-granddaughter.

Ernest was loved by many, whoever he came in contact with adored him and fell in love with his beautiful personality, he had an infectious smile that would light up a room. He brought comfort to many who came to him in need. He left a big hole in many hearts; our worlds will never be the same without him.
