Estrella Elisa “Alice” Gomez Landin, 84, of Peyton, Colorado, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, April 8, 2022. She was born to Moises and Elicia Gomez, Saturday, September 4, 1937, in Cerro, New Mexico at the family home.
At six years old, Estrella’s family moved to the small town of Randolph, Utah where she was the 11th of 12 children. Her father was a sheep herder for LB Johnson and her mother was a homemaker on the small farm where they lived. She attended and graduated seminary even though she was not a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at the time. Estrella played the clarinet in the HS marching band. During high school, she followed her sisters, to California, where she was the first in her family to graduate from high school (Oakland Tech). After high school she started working at Mothers Cookie factory for a short time, then was hired at American National Can where she worked for 40 years most of that time on the graveyard shift.Estrella was baptized to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in November 1957. She loved to tell the story how she was exercising to Jack LaLanne when the missionaries knocked at her door and she opened it and said, “come on in I’ve been waiting for you”! While working at National Can she married and had 5 children. She faithfully took her children to church each Sunday and taught them the importance of having Jesus Christ first in their lives.
