FRANK HATCH, SALT LAKE CITY, UT
Frank Hatch, 85, a long-time resident of Salt Lake City, Utah, passed away peacefully at the George E. Wahlen Veteran’s Home on December 31, 2015. Frank was born in Vernal, Utah on December 23, 1930 to Robert Rafael (Bus) and Eva Caldwell Hatch, the fourth of five sons.
He graduated from Uintah High School in 1948 and served in the U.S. Marines from 1951 to 1953 during the Korean conflict. Utilizing his G.I bill, he graduated from the University of Utah where he played for the Men’s tennis team and received a degree in accounting. Frank worked many years as a CPA for S.E. Newman & Company and Smith & Anderson in Salt Lake City.
He married Ila Laura Lombard in 1955, then Atha Deffenbaugh Ingalls in 1973.
Frank was a diehard fan of Utah football and basketball, a Bleacher Ute and a member of the Crimson Club for many years. He volunteered many years as a coach for the Ute Conference Little League Football Conference, amassing several winning seasons and a state championship title. He continued to play tournament tennis at the Cottonwood Club and enjoyed golfing with his buddies there.
An avid sportsman, Frank loved to go to the Flaming Gorge recreational area where he spent much of his life hunting and fishing with family and friends.
Frank is survived by his children Mike Hatch (Mary) of Roy, Kelly Ward (Dan) of Houston, Texas, stepson Mark Ingalls (Linda) of Sandy, Kathy Pazera of Bend, Oregon, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and sisters-in-law Pat Hatch of Vernal and Pat Hatch of Shalimar, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Gus, Don, Foy and Ted Hatch, wife Atha, and stepson Jeff Ingalls.
Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
