Frank Leon Short

November 12, 1929 – June 22, 2016

Our beloved, Father, Grandfather,  Brother, and Uncle, Frank Leon Short, 86, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2016 from complications related to pulmonary fibrosis.  He was at home, surrounded by his family.  He was a kind and gentle man who had a heart of gold and was an amazing example of unconditional love.

Frank was born on November 12, 1929, in SLC, Utah, to Goldie Mae and Frank Albert Short.  Due to the loss of his mother when he was  seven years old, his family moved around a lot and Frank spent many years in Missouri and later returned to Utah where he attended Ogden High School.

Frank served his country in the Army, Navy, and National Guard.  He was very proud of his country and was honored to serve.  He was a very hard worker and held many jobs throughout his life, including, working for the Union Pacific Railroad and operating his own long haul trucking company.

In 1972, he married the mother of his four children, Karen Nielsen, and became a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  Frank had a very strong testimony of The Gospel of Jesus Christ and inspired many with his faith.

Frank enjoyed reading, fishing, working on cars, and spending time with his family.  He was a devoted father and grandfather who considered his children his greatest accomplishment.

He is survived by one sister, Jane Mosher; his four children, Christie Berardi (Jerry), Rebecca Bradshaw, Amy Poen (Nate), and Justin Short (Miranda);   ten grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews, who all loved him dearly.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at Aaron’s Mortuary, 496 24th Street, Ogden, Utah.   Friends may visit with family on Monday, June 27, 2016 from 6 to 8 pm and  prior to services on Tuesday, from 0930 to 1030 am  at Aaron’s Mortuary.   Interment will be at the Salt Lake City Cemetery , 200 North “N” Street, Salt Lake City, Utah immediately following the funeral.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Chelsea and Cynthia with Access Hospice and Andrea, Maddie, Melissa, and Suzy from McKay-Dee Hospital.  Your love and kindness made such a big difference during a difficult time.
