Fred W. Malan, 75, passed away Wednesday, August 1, 2012, at McKay-Dee Hospital of a stroke. He was born Nov 27, 1936 in Ogden to LeRoy and Rose Deininger Malan. He was a graduate of Ogden High School and a lifelong resident of Utah. He married Patricia Marriott and they had three children. They were later divorced and he married Jean Dalton; they were later divorced. Fred worked for Bennets, Northern Utah, and Davis County Glass companies. Fred was a Glazier by trade, but his passion was carpentry, building decks, room additions, and remodeling for family, friends and neighbors. He also made furniture for his grandchildren. He enjoyed living at Three Link Towers where he had many friends. He also enjoyed having coffee with his buddies, bowling, family get-togethers, traveling, Jazz games and a good joke. Fred had a good sense of humor and sharp wit. Even though he had many medical problems he never complained. He will be greatly missed. Fred is survived by his children, Randy (Sherrie) Malan, Roy; Fred Malan, Mesa, Arizona; and Laurie Bigler, Roy; 8 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a sister, Marilyn (Ernie) Wilson, Roy, He was preceded in death by one grandchild and one great-grandchild. His family is very grateful for his best friend, Joe Vigil. Joe, dad loved your cooking and your company. A graveside service will be held at a later date.
