George Lewis Chartrand

February 19, 1929 — September 12, 2013

George Lewis Chartrand, Sr., 84, passed away September 12, 2013 in Ogden. He was born February 19, 1929 to John and Alberta St. Denis Chartrand in Whiting, Vermont. He married Jean Giles in San Antonio, Texas on April 5, 1952. He graduated from Brandon High School in Brandon Vermont. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was a parishoner at the Holy Family Catholic Church, a member of the Knights of Columbus, a Red- Cross Disaster volunteer and a member of the VFW. George retired from the Defense Depot Ogden as a computer programmer. Ran his own barber shop for 20 years. He built and loved spending time at his cabin in the Uintah Mountains. He enjoyed traveling, playing cards and cheering for Notre Dame. Proud to be a Gonzaga University Grandpa. Although he lived in Utah most of his life, his heart was always with his brothers and sisters in Vermont. He is survived by his wife, Jean; children, Lewis (Pat) Chartrand of Kona, Hawaii, Kathy (Scott) Doxey of Ogden, Utah and Kent (Diane) Chartrand of Salt Lake City; four grandchildren and four great- grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother and one sister. Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, September 17, 2013, at 11 am at Holy Family Catholic Church, 1100 E. 5550 S., Ogden, Utah. Interment Lindquist's Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch.
