George William Richan
George William Richan, 69, passed away February 22, 2013 from cancer at the home of his daughter in Pleasant View where, for the last eighteen months, he put up a brave and valiant fight against the disease. He was born June 2, 1943 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Edgar Ray Richan and Velma Thompson Richan. He was raised in Hooper until the age of 15 when his family moved to Mantua where he attended Box Elder High School. He married Merle Claree Paulsen on August 27, 1960. They were later divorced but remained good friends. He married Sharon McBride and was later divorced. He married Eileen Egnuet and was later divorced. He is survived by his seven children, Kevin George Richan, Joyce Bott, and Todd Jay (Stephanie) Richan of Brigham City; Julie (Mike) Ross of Pleasant View; George Richan Jr.of Salt Lake City; Angela Sharon Richan of Great Falls, Montana, and Jamie Jo (Dan) Smith of Toole. He had 24 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by six sisters Myrtle Mangum, Barbara (Ira) Harris, Carolyn (Fred) Carter, Thoran (Wendel) Slater, Lois Dunn, Susan (Art) Seamons, one brother, Ray (Marilyn) Richan, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was a jack of all trades and worked at many different jobs, some of which enabled him to travel throughout the US. He was an avid fisherman and loved gardening. He especially loved getting together with family and friends. He had developed many special relationships throughout his life. A special thanks to Ron and Debbie Johnson for the many hours they spent with him studying the bible, helping him find the inner peace he had been looking for. He is preceded in death by his parents, three grandsons, Adam Quaid Anderson, Travis William Richan and Brandon Kevin Richan; sisters, Vilda, Mary, Irene and Kathy and brothers, Howard, Loren, and Ezra. A celebration of his life memorial service will be held Friday March 1, 201at 11 am at the Comfort Suites, 2245 So. 1200 West Ogden, UT - Just off the I-15 21st St exit for Ogden. Cremation under the direction of Aarons Mortuary.
