Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother Glen Jensen Smith, 92, returned to his Heavenly Father Saturday, November 16, 2013 at the George E. Wahlen Ogden Veterans Home. Glen was born July 13, 1921 in Malad, Idaho. He graduated from Malad High School in 1939 and then attended Weber State College where he graduated in 1941. Glen enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in October 1942 and served in San Diego at the Marine Barracks at Camp Dunlap in California. In April, l944 he was assigned to the 2nd Armored Amphibian Battalion. He participated in operations against enemy forces on Saipan and Iwo-Jima and was sent on occupation duty to Sasabeo, Japan. He was discharged at Mare Island, California on December 12, 1945. After the war Glen returned home and went to work for Hunter Motor Company in Ogden. He married his sweetheart, VerVene Frandsen, on January 30, 1946 in the Salt Lake Temple. Glen and VerVene raised three children, Sherry, Vicki and Gaylene. They have been together for 67 wonderful years. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and was a member of the Riverdale 4th Ward. He served faithfully as Bishop of the Ogden 57th Ward, as a Counselor in three bishoprics, as High Councilman in the Ogden Stake, and in many other callings in the church. Glen also enjoyed serving in the Ogden Temple for many years. He worked for Peterson Motor Company in Ogden for 15 years before going to Hill Field Air Base where he worked until he retired in 1984. After his retirement, Glen loved to go camping and fishing with his family. He also enjoyed reading good books. He was an avid Utah Jazz fan who never missed a game. We would like to thank everyone at the George E. Wahlen Ogden Veterans Home who cared for Glen for the last two years. We would also like to thank the many Hospice caregivers for the wonderful care and assistance they provided for him. Glen is survived by his wife, VerVene; daughters, Vicki Mamales (Bill) and Gaylene Pitchford (Kevin); brothers, Jim Smith (Judy), Gordon Smith (Rhea) and Boyd Smith (Mahon). He leaves a legacy of six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and one great-greatgrandchild. His example will shine forever and he will truly be missed. We love you! Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Riverdale 4th Ward Chapel, 5500 S.1175 W. Riverdale UT. A viewing will be held Tuesday, November 19, 2013 from 6 - 8 p.m. at Aarons Mortuary, 496 24th Street and again on Wednesday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to the services.
