Gregory Thomas Smith
November 22, 1975 ~ November 15, 2017
"How can this happen to the most perfect person in the world."
- Riley (daughter)
Gregory Thomas Smith of Layton, Utah, died Wednesday, November 15, 2017, in his Salt Lake apartment. Cause of death was unexpected respiratory and heart problems. Greg was born November 22, 1975. He was 41 at the time of his passing.
Every weekend, Greg's kids looked forward to homemade special Pancake Saturdays. Family and friends meant the world to him. He was selfless in sacrificing his own time to help others. His family was very proud of his continuous effort to be a good father, son, person, and all of his career accomplishments.
Greg was known by those closest for his desire to teach and his sense of humor. He had a misunderstood way of correcting others, but those who knew him realized that he meant well. Practical jokes were expected, so if you see a light flicker or a door close by itself, he could be messing with you.
Hobbies included: spending time with family and friends, bowling, biking, hiking, reading, gaming, dinner, movies, fast cars, computer programming, music, and golf. Greg was employed as an application developer at GPS Capital Markets, Inc. in South Jordan, Utah. Greg's life was filled with love by a special someone.
Greg was often mistakenly called "Scott" (brother) by his parents. He is survived by his daughter, Riley (9); son, Ryan (7); parents, Suzan and Larry Smith; sisters, Michelle (Smith) Nickerson and Cindy Smith; and brother, Scott Smith.
We all love and will miss you so much, Greg. Goodbye for now.
Greg's Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, November 26, 2017, from 3 to 5 p.m. at Jeremiah's Restaurant, 1307 W. 1200 South, Ogden, Utah 84404. Light refreshments will be served.
