Heidi Hazen Owen passed away peacefully, but far too soon on March 2nd, 2019 in West Point,
Utah.
Born to Jasmine and Richard Hazen on July 29th, 1955, Heidi can best be described as a
person who loved fiercely, gave freely, and wasn’t afraid to stand up for what she believed in.
Her kindness and generosity were only matched by her stubborn and feisty spirit.
Heidi lived a full life surrounded by family, friends, her beloved dogs and cats, and everything in
her favorite color — purple. She was a devoted mom and grandma who spent countless hours
cheering on her grandkids at sporting events and plays, buying them gifts, and having them
over for movie nights. She knew how to make every one of them feel special.
Heidi married Paul in 1993, and they spent 26 years living life to the fullest. They loved to pack
up their trailer and tour the country with their dogs. They were both happiest in water and
sunshine, and spent their weekends wave-running and lounging on the beach at Willard Bay.
On those weekends Heidi often said, “THIS is my church.”
Heidi opened her heart and home to every stray dog and cat that crossed her path. She worked
tirelessly to help lost pets find their way home, or sometimes just to give them a home. She was
a long-time financial supporter of the Humane Society.
Even though animals held a special place in Heidi’s heart, she didn’t shy from extending her
kindness to people too. She donated a kidney to save a stranger’s life in 2007, simply because
she heard he needed one. She was so happy to think her kidney helped a family keep their
father.
Heidi’s life, while over too quickly, was energetic and happy. She touched countless hearts and
will be deeply missed. She is survived by her husband and best friend Paul Owen, loving sons
Brandon Jamison and Brett (Mariah) Jamison, stepdaughters Taura (Josh) Scheer and Melanie Jackson,
grandchildren Karli, Kalli, Karston, Kamden, Kambri, Kardon, and Eve, mother Jasmine Hazen,
brother Laine (Raelyn) Hazen, sisters Terri (Val) Thurgood and Kristen (John) Hazen, and
numerous nieces and nephews.
She is also survived by her dogs Ginger, Daisy, and Jax, and her cats Violet and Amethyst.
They never left her side.
Heidi is preceded in death by her father Richard Hazen and brother Curtis Hazen.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at Aaron’s Mortuary of Clearfield, 1050 S. State Street, Clearfield, Utah. Viewings will be held on Friday evening, March 8, 2019 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, and on Saturday, March 9, 2019 from 10:00 to 10:45 am at the mortuary.
