Helen Bernice (Swenson) Syndergaard

Helen Bernice (Swenson) Syndergaard, age 89, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of November 14, 2016, at the Rocky Mountain Care Center in Clearfield, Utah.  

Helen was born the 9th of 10 children to John Swenson and Anthere Mills on April 1, 1927 in Fairview, Sanpete County, Utah.

On June 9, 1942 she married the love of her life Harold Burt Syndergaard in Manti, Utah.  They were together until Harold’s death in 1985.   She and Harold moved many times throughout their lives together going where the work was as Harold worked construction, oil fields, power plants and mines as a heavy duty welder and mechanic. Together they had six (6) children. 

Helen worked as a retail clerk for Gibson’s Green River, Wyoming.  Wal-Mart in Stilwell, Oklahoma,  Pamida in Rock Springs,Wyoming,  and retired from K-Mart in Rock Springs, Wyoming.. 

She loved to play board and dice games.  She was an avid reader.  She loved dill pickles, macaroni and tomatoes, maple nut ice cream and black licorice.  In later years she played games, read and checked Facebook on her Nook.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. 

She had an amazing memory, she never forgot a name, birthday or event.  She was very in tune with what was going on around her by keeping in touch with family.  

Helen is survived by her younger sister Ronna Lee (Swenson) Torgerson of Denver, Colorado.  Her daughters; Marquita Lyn Syndergaard Davis of Layton, Utah, Tamara Sue Syndergaard of Wills Point, Texas, Teresa Kay Syndergaard Lowe of Superior, Wyoming, Lisa Gay Syndergaard (Duane) Jensen of Murray, Utah. She is also survived by her special “son-in-law” Tim McHale of Layton, Utah. 

She is preceded in death by her husband, Harold Burt Syndergaard and her two son’s John Lee Syndergaard and Larry Dean Syndergaard. One son-in-law Jeffrey Lowe.  One daughter-in-law Peggy Syndergaard and nine of her ten siblings.

She has eight (8) grandchildren: John Harold (Cierra) Syndergaard, David Lowe, Kalyn Lowe (Jake) McMicheal, Destanee Glass (Travis) Budder, Maranda Glass (Travis) Thomas, Ray (Brandi) Glass, Nicholas (Brandy Armstrong), Williams, Karl (Holly Hendershot) Williams, Sr.

She has twenty-two great grandchildren: Ava Syndergaard, Bradley Syndergaard, Gunnar Syndergaard, Sky-Anne Wiley, Kierra Wiley, Jaydence Wiley, Cheyenne McMicheal, Takota McMicheal, Brycee Thomas, Braxton Thomas, Shayanna Kay Ray,  Konner Julius Lowe, Kaden Marcus Lowe , Kamryn Day Lowe, Ismae Rosemond Lowe, Shiloh Williams, Karl Williams, Jr., Wesley Williams, Michael Williams,  Glenn R. Lewis, Jr., Cali M Williams, Loki J Williams.

She loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren unconditionally.  She may not have always liked what they did but she loved them just the same.  She also has many cousins, nieces, nephews that she loved. 

A viewing will be held on Thursday, November 17, 2016, from 10:00-10:45 with services to follow immediately after at Aaron's Mortuary (used to be Lindquist) 1050 S. State Street, Clearfield, UT 84015.  Graveside services will be held on Friday, November 18, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at the Rock Springs Cemetery. Rock Springs, Wyoming with a reception to follow. 

Donations to help with funeral costs would be appreciated in lieu of flowers.  A GoFundMe account is set up and being shared on Facebook.
