James "Jim" Donald Kocherhans

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Jim Kocherhans a shining example of kindness and strength who touched the lives of all who knew him. He carried a gentle spirit, always ready to lend a helping hand, while facing life’s challenges with unwavering resilience. Jim’s legacy of compassion will forever live on in our hearts.

Jim passed away January 15, 2025, at the age of 77, next to his daughter, Sami Francis. Jim was born on June 6, 1947, to Ruth and Leo Kocherhans in Dos Palos, CA. As a young child he moved to Lovell, WY and later to Rupert, ID. He hated being called James, growing up his family called him Butch, he preferred to be called Jim, Butch or Papa by his grandkids. He was a smart, mischievous child and was always finding ways to get into trouble. Jim was a kind man, always willing to give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. The greatest joy in life was being Papa to his grandchildren, he will be sorely missed by them. Jim was a Pepsi and Ford fan but hated Coke and Chevy’s. He was very outgoing, fun-loving and loved to have a good time. He loved boating, 4-wheeling and certainly knew how to throw the best parties.

Jim always had an entrepreneurial spirit from a very young age. He started working in pest control at the age of 15 when he gained a love for it by helping his grandparents spray crops on their farm. As a young adult, he opened several pest control businesses, becoming super successful. He owned and operated Blue Diamond Pest Control, Utah Pest Control, High Mountain Pest Control and Utah Termites. He was successful across many Western states. At the age of 32, Jim married the love of his life, Lisa Kocherhans.

Jim is survived by his children: Samantha Jo Francis (aka Sami), Russell (Kelle Adams) Kocherhans, Jason (Michelle) Kocherhans, and Ezra (Britney) Kocherhans; Grandchildren: Jordan, Justin, Lakelyn, and Oaklyn; Siblings: Pam, Penny, Jackie (Ben), Sam (Jan), Denise (Rick), Dru, Darwin (Deanna); and sister-in-law, Jean; Ex-wife and friend, Lisa Kocherhans. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth and Leo Kocherhans; his siblings: Donna (twin sister), Gail, Lafe; and brother-in-law, Von.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to his best friends, Jimmy and Char Louder. The family would also like to thank Rocky Mountain Care Center and Ability Hospice for the final care of his life. No services will be held at this time.
