In the early morning hours of August 7, 2012 Grandpa left to be with Grandma, who he has missed every day for the last 5 years. I'm sure after they say hello to those who went before them they will go fishing together again.
Grandpa was born James Murry Malone on January 27th 1923, one of 10 children, in Holmes County, Mississippi, to Thomas Boyd and Eula Lee Malone. When Grandpa was 17 he joined the CCC Camp where he learned the art of cooking, the CCC Camp brought him to Utah where he met my Grandma Norma Fay Pierce. They married on September 5th 1944. Together they had 3 children, Lee, Robert and Patrick.
Grandpa had been a chef at the Newhouse Hotel and cooked for the Ambassador Club and Willow Creek Country Club, he retired from the University of Utah Balif Hall.
Grandpa and Grandma lived in Salt Lake City for many many years before finding their "home" in Garland Utah.
Grandpa loved hunting, fishing and tying flies. He took pride in his garden and taking care of "Momma's" flowers. He also enjoyed making toys and furniture for his kids, grandkids, and great grandkids.
Grandpa is survived by his children Lee Hass, son in law Pete, Robert, daughter in law Michelle and Patrick. His Grandchildren, Tammi, Jeff (Jamie), Bryan (Clara), Dustin (Martha), Mandy, Jacob, Nina and great grandchildren Ashlee, Jaden, Mykell, Dakota, Connor, Josh, Cassie, Sylvia and Irwin. Sister Ruth Luby, Brothers Gerald "Red", Floyd and T B Malone.
The family would like to thank Ron Jeppesen for all he did to help make Grandpa's life a little easier after Grandma passed away. Susie, his neighbor who would bring him special dinners. Kathleen at Kent's Market, you held a special place in his heart, the waitress' at Denny's who always knew exactly what he wanted and the staff at Bear River Valley Hospital, you are all the kindest and most compassionate professionals we have ever encountered. Grandpa bravely donated his eyes to the University of Utah to aid in finding a cure for Macular Degeneration.
There will be a private family memorial held in honor of both Grandma and Grandpa at a later date.
Condolences may be sent to the family at Aarons mortuary.com.
